Master Bedroom Design Ideas and Transformation – The Edit
Weymouth, Dorset

The Project
In this case study, I’m excited to showcase some master bedroom design ideas that show just how cost-effective and enjoyable The Edit design package can be. This client chose The Edit package with a few tailored add-ons to help transform their master bedroom into a serene sanctuary where she and her husband could unwind. The Edit package is an e-design service that allows me to collaborate with clients remotely. Whether acting as a supportive cheerleader through the sometimes chaotic renovation process or offering a steady hand to guide them through big decisions (like choosing whether or not to paint the ceiling white!), I’m here to ensure the experience is as smooth and stress-free as possible.
The Budget
As my clients were in the midst of a full house refurbishment, they had a modest budget set aside for the bedroom. I find that working with smaller budgets can actually spark creativity and inspire out-of-the-box solutions. The design concept for this project included:
A full wall of off-the-shelf wardrobes, cleverly enhanced to create a bespoke look
A thoughtfully curated colour scheme
Floorplan, furniture, and lighting layout
Detailed cabinetry drawings
A comprehensive shopping list
A moodboard to capture the vision
2D visuals to bring the design to life
Window treatment recommendations
The Before
The room was initially being used as a storage space while other renovation work was underway. Despite the clutter, the room had immense potential, boasting a large bay window that bathes the space in evening sunlight. As it’s a Victorian property, the layout possibilities were endless, but my client was unsure of how to best utilize the space. I recommended positioning the bed to face the window, allowing the longest wall to be used for storage, maximizing both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
The Design Process
With this e-design project, I relied on the client’s photos and measurements, working remotely without ever visiting the property. This is the beauty of e-design—you get professional, personalised design assistance without the hefty price tag. Starting from just £290, The Edit package offers incredible value. Plus, you remain in control, allowing you to complete the project on your own timeline and at your own pace, easing the pressure of a busy schedule.
The Results
This once chaotic space has been transformed into a tranquil retreat where my client can relax and recharge. It’s become a true haven amidst the ongoing renovations. The Edit service was ideal for her, providing a clear vision and inspiration while still allowing the flexibility to choose items that fit her budget and preferences. This approach helped alleviate the decision paralysis that often accompanies renovation projects, and she knew she could always reach out for advice along the way.
The Review
We recently worked with Laura at Olive and Wilde to help us with the design of our master bedroom and we couldn't be happier with the space that we have created. Myself and my husband were really struggling to agree on a room layout that worked best for the room, we then worked with Laura who created a floor plan for us that utilized our space so well!
Laura helped us envision what the space could look like by creating a very in depth mood board which was amazing but what was really helpful was that she outlined where all of our electrics should go and helped us with a process that we could follow to finish the bedroom - this was very helpful to two people who are very new to renovating!
I never knew a finished room could make me feel so happy and calm, I don't think we would have achieved the finished look that we have today if it wasn't for Laura's help! I would highly recommend her services, she is super helpful and very approachable too!
